Well that was a bit wet wasn't it, sorry for the sunny advert pics as clearly that was not the flavour for today.
With seven riders we set off down the grinding paste trail into the grim of Woodhead, with spirits high and the wind behind us all is well untill we hit the junction above the tunnels and then the head wind the rain the cold and of course the lack of vitamin D we start the decsent down to nine lady's bridge, by now things are going sour pedaling hard and fighting the wind and the occasional snow drift it takes some time to get down the normaly extremely fast downhill.
Oh well next section please round to Crowden, the wind has backed off but now its time for a mud fest with added mud, following the contours and mud and A porly freehub on the 19 year old trek we eventualy arrive at mud woods and thats about it there were no discusions about anything nothing to read here carry on.
With a quick tarmac climb out of Crowden and spirits warming up again
we are on the last leg of the ride with a quick blast through the mud (aka speeder bike woods) and some turnstile truing classes by dsp we hit the last part of the old manchester road, its time to reflect on the grimness that was as we pass the excitable old boy raving to the tunes in his head its back up the ex railway line and back to the safety of our cars.

so it begins

Really good day, I really enjoyed it! Nice to find some new routes around somewhere I used to ride regularly.
Surprisingly the bike was completely clean after just a few minutes with the hose!

For a gentle ride around Longendale, this was rather tough in places. Mostly when the persistent drizzle blurred my vision on the headwind affected downhills.

Thoroughly enjoyed it though. Really nice little route.

Remember though; what was said in the woods, stays in the woods.

Great day although I'm binning the boutique Machinetechs and going for an Altus setup - got to be an improvement! Bit knackered now though...

Top job organising Mrlee and good company all round... And even did a bit of business out of the spares box - thanks guys!

Going to crack a Stella and watch the Moto GP.

Drystone Paul leading Mod duties in assembling everyone on the Sh*tstep...

Can you still claim NOS after just one ride...?

Drystone Pauls (extreme left) homage to that god of a groupset STX RC - seriously!

Bagged a brief ride on this Ti beauty, but soon got mine back ... Did I mention the dodgy brakes at all today?
