hi all,

been a long time since i've been into my bikes but after a long 50 mile treck recently i've decided i need to shed some weight!

so, i currently have a un52 BB (WW show as >300g) and i'm after a lighter one, preferably <200g. Something like a hope ti or fsa ultralite....or anything that people can recommend for a good price. an xtr un91 would suit also.

68mm shell
110mm spindle
english thread
square taper

what have you?

Oli

I think UN 9... were " DA/XTR level " , UN 7... "Ultegra/XT level" and UN 5... are "105/LX" to give you an idea of what level BB you presently have

Cheers for the replies! My current looks to be the cheapest out there, which is about right as it was a last minute emergency purchase!

While there is general agreement about the angle, there is no such agreement about the actual width cut off. There are two standards in current use, and there is another used on some parts still seen.

I don't quite understand Abner 45 , 2 degrees is standard for ISO and JIS but most crank sets need different length axles , do you think crank designers should (have) been forced to adopt a standard spindle length ?

still on the look for this - target is as close to 200g as possible.

a un72 would be a decent choice and can be had for cheap, but if i'm able to get a 200g then that's what i'll plump for. no idea on cost of these things as i can't find anything myself, but i know an XT on pinkbike for a tenner lol
