22.2 mm handlebars for old Dawes.

Hi, I just bought a fairly old Dawes (countryman?). It has a Sakae stem and clamp, but the clamp is too small for a standard 25.4mm handlebar, it will only take around 22.2 mm(that's what the digital calipers say about the current bars). Does anyone know where I might be able to source a set of bars that are more in keeping with the bike than the blue anodized ally straight BMX bars that are currently fitted?

If it helps, here is a link to some pictures. My stem.clamp looks identical to this one.

I've got an oryginal SR (as I remember - will have to check it for sure) bars from '80, 22,2 with rise
It's steel/cr-mo so not anodised (just silver)
If it's any good for You You can have it almost fos shipping costs

Excuse me being stupid, but what does SR mean?

Later... OK, I think I've worked it out now "Sakae Ringyo"?

So yes, if you still have them and they will fit a 22.2mm clamp I would be very interested.

Well handlebar is not SR a I supposed, it's MT Sakae

It's 70cm of wide, so unfortunately shipping will not be cheap (it can't goes as a letter) - it will cost around 16,3GBp

There is a forum member in the UK who thinks he has found a pair, so I'll get back to you one way or the other when as soon as I can.

Thanks,

John
