I just acquired an Alan cross frame (54cm) in OK condition, which is my next project.

As with most Alan frames, the original fork is missing (snapped probably).

The fork on the frame at the moment is probably hi-tensile steel - it weighs as much as the frame.

A fork or pointers to one would be greatly appreciated. I don't expect an Alan fork, but a nice lightweight alloy or steel fork would be nice.

EDITED

Thanks to Ebay I now have an original Alan alloy fork. Steerer not quite right but it'll do.

1" Fork

Hi,

I have a 1" threaded reynolds 531 dB fork, 1/2 chrome. bit battered, needs respray really. canti mounts.

I can send pic and measure steeer length if interested.

£10 plus postage.

No matter what fork I get, it's going to need a respray.... or rechroming.

The anodised finish on the Alan is pretty much like paint anyway.

Send me the specs - I am interested.

I also need to know the dimensions of the bulge over the crown that the bottom race gets pressed onto. And whether there are rack /mudguard eyelets to remove.

If steerer is long enough and crown is wide enough, would you be able to send it on to a sprayer (will probably use Dave Yates.) instead of directly to me?
