Dears,

I have got a question related to 1991 till 1995 Controltech A-Head 1 1/8" steams and seat post as attached on photo. Could anybody advise what years attached 2 steams and seat post were produced? I mean first production year and last production year.

As I remember but not sure.

1. Control tech cooperated with Dia Compe and RockShox launching first ahead system probably 1992 but I am not sure. Maybe it was 1991?

2. As well as I am not sure what year they start to offer 2 bolt removable clamp steam - 1995?

3. The same seat post. Probably they start to offer that kind of one 1991 but I am not sure.

I have asked Controltech but they do not know ;-)

thank you in advance

Thanks, I know that website, anyway there is nothing for years of production ;-( Anyway looking Dia-Compe on wiki it says:

"In 1990 John Rader, the designer of the Aheadset system (US Patent 5095770 A ), gave exclusive licensing to Dia-Compe for the product. Dia-Compe USA financed fledgling company RockShox in the development of the RS-1 suspension fork. The USA subsidiary of Dia-Compe was eventually purchased by RockShox in the 1990s. In 1992 Dia-Compe USA became Cane Creek Cycling Components and introduced the threadless headset (AheadSet®)".

The same looking on US Patent 5095770 A says - it says:

"1990-09-28 Application filed by Rader Iii Homer J
1990-09-28 Priority to US07590575
1991-09-26 Priority claimed from DE9116836U
1992-03-17 Application granted
1992-03-17 Publication of US5095770A"

so it looks 1992 was first production year of Ahead Set system and assumed all related components so forks (e.g. MAG-20), head set bearings (Dia-Compe, Tioga?), and of course one bolt clamp Control Tech steam (any others that year?)

Still open question for two bolt clamp first prod. year ;-) 1995 Diamond Back catalogue shows for top models one bolt clamp, does anybody have maybe some bicycle 96 catalogue where Controltech steam was bike equipment? Thanks.
