Course getting rougher every year

I was slower than I wanted to be on offroad section, but got a good pace on the tarmac, passing quite a few mtb-ers = then really p'd off when the Level Crossing gates came down at Kingussie and I had to wait 6 minutes to get through. Pish. Minor mechanical with brakes on the downhill zigzags  but fixed quickly ...

Like riding along a dry river bed in places

Robmac dun good at around 4h 30m, Dave 4h 45m, me 5h 12m  (bloomin level x'ing  )

Winners in at around 2h 55m  which is approx a 15mph average

My bike came around 16th. I wasn't on it.

My boss borrowed it for the day.

Said folk were surprised to see a 96 Kona racked up at the end among the carbons.

Yep - retros were very much a very small minority - my '95 Orange and a similar aged Bontrager along with a few Raleigh/BSA hopefuls. Did see one old Kona hardtail loaded up but can't recall model. Definitely a day out for the Modernes

Rob - pics are up - glad it wasn't just me pushin' (search on your race number)
