guys

Clubby has asked me to organise this so have started an early ideas thread.

My current thinking is one of these

Aviemore revisit 40km ryovan pass epic and glen livet trails weekender

Kinlochleven and ciaran path at glen coe

And Something out of mbr mag - a very early morning ascent of Ben lomond to catch the sunrise at the top and then blast down afore the walkers get up. I really like the sound this and will be a real challenge

Looking at accommodation options for each is the main challenge

I would like this to be well attended so will put up a selection of dates fir July, September or early October for thus and will keep you posted.

Re: summer/autumn epic planning thread

Having read and looked at this the Ben lomond might be a bit more challenging than I thought and not really retro friendly

Re: summer/autumn epic planning thread

One quote was

3hr 20 min to get up and 40mins down and glad to be in one piece lol

Re: summer/autumn epic planning thread

Aviemore revisit/ Glenlivet Trails would be my preference.

As for dates, July would be best, then September, doubt I could do October.

Re: summer/autumn epic planning thread

As the antithesis of epic maybe I shouldn't pass comment but my vote would be for Aviemore/ Ryvoan Pass/ Glenlivet Trails.

Ciaran path and Ben Lomond both seem a bit too epic for me!

September would be my month of choice due to the midge factor.

Would be happy to base in the Rothiemurchus campsite. Much nicer than the Glenmore one at Loch Morlich IMHO.

All that said, I can't guarantee that I will be able to make it so factor that in with the rest of the votes when they come in. ;)

July! You can tell the ones without kids on holiday from school.

Re:

Not trying to be all negative but Fat Bike forum also having a meet in Aviemore 26/7th September. Might want to avoid that weekend.

Re:

My 2nd preference was for ryovan and glen livet also.

I had looked at hostels for glen coe but way too late for booking and shonas bosses cottage in nethy bridge Is booked as is the nethy bunkhouses.

Nae or little midges in aviemore so thinking we target aviemore in July.

Base would be Rothiemurchus campsite or adjacent Hilton coylumbridge for the less adventurous. Old bridge Inn just down road as well for grub. Will also check the bunkhouse in aviemore.

On the Sunday we then have the choice of either glenlivet or laggan.

Will do some more digging.
