Area is great, we used to drive up for visits in the summer - canoeing mainly, kids like playing on the islands. Road biking is great if you like the climbs - etape runs through there too.
Friends have stayed at the holiday lodges up there and like it. They've been several years running but I'm not sure which ones, I know it wasn't cheap so could be these guys.... http://www.kenmoreluxurylodges.co.uk/ (possibly the most annoying website for accomodation I have ever found)
