Need fork legs painted/powder how much?

I've been servicing the Jr t's i got and was considering having the legs repainted as theyre a bit chipped[Not bad but bad enough]

Any idea how much a small job like that would cost ?,and is it better to strip the old paint myself before handing them over :?

This is where my old College would have been perfect with their big spray set up and pretty near unlimited supply of professional coatings.Tempted to go and do a night or weekend course :?

with things like suspension forks its best to get them chemical stripped ,reason being that blast media gets into everything and is really hard to remove ,then it scratches the fork legs at a later date

i'd expect £40 ish for a paint shop to do this ,your local alloy wheel re-finishers would be first port of call

guys, i want to get the 3Ds and flip flop stem (once i get one) coated for my zaskar. if i follow the above mikee you're advising againt sand blasting?? this was the easy option for me as i have a mate with the kit. when you say chemical, are we talking a sand and then nitromors type strippers or some industrial process?

I think mikee's point was it was bad for fork lowers, since the media gets everywhere?

Can't see a problem with just doing the forks, just make sure crown race, threads, brake studs are masked properly, would maybe think twice about doing the stem though.

zz thats it , its fine for rigid forks and frames , and will be fine on other assembies as long as they are properly cleaned first , this usually means
you taking them home and spending ages chasing the grit out
course you can get other blast cleaning done , soda blasting ,vapour blasting and others , but this is specialist stuff and goes with specialist prices

gmac , kingdom coatings up the road from me does a good blast and
powder coating service , tho he farms out things for specialist blasting

If you strip them yourself you can get much better prices if it is black or white, as the powdercoater will batch them in with industrial jobs - my local one wants £35 to do my cranks but only £8 if I strip them and want black or white or grey.
