Friday night
Eilean Donan Castle - I am Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. I was born in 1518 in the village of Glenfinnan on the shores of Loch Shiel. And I am immortal.
Day 1 - Sligachan Loop - Anti-Clockwise
It wouldn't be a MacRetro ride without some last minute fettling by TheKen - Fanta seatpost shim (patriotic Irn Bru can was not available)
The intrepid riders set out, note campsite still in sight and already pushing and overtaken by walkers
Xizang and Sex One - Marsco in the background
Marsco above Radek's heid, Sgurr Nan Gillean to the right
Jamie on his eye-poppingly georgeous Surly - Single speed prize winning smile
Radek on the lovely half carbon / half scandium Salsa Moto Rapido
TheKen finding time to actually ride his Xizang inbetween adjustments
Mr Panda on the Sex One, disc at the front, skew-whiff canti at the rear
First ford of the day
Radek getting fed up trying to spot the climbers on the ridge - ' no to the left of the rectangular outcrop '
TheKen adjusts his front mech and Mr Panda's inspects his rear. FNARR!
Deeper into the Glen, more flow to the riding as the water bars disappear
Mr Panda points out Mt Blanc in the distance
Radek climbing up from Loch na Creitheach
Arrival at the beach at Camusanary - Approx 8 miles travelled in 4hrs
TheKen feeling a wee bit tired out
Radek possibly a bit fatigued too
Jamie succumbing to peer pressure also lies down
Who is that mysterious bloke sitting down over there? I think his name's ' Sligachan ' ?
The view down to Camusanary bay as we climbed up westwards toward Am Mam
Blabheinn
Cresting the top of the climb
And down the other side towards Kilmarie/Kirkibost and some road miles before the horror of Strath Mor
The only picture I could bring myself to take as we traversed Strath Mor - that's Gaelic for ' 3.5 miles of bog that will make you hate cycling '
Strath Mor's ' Bend of Joy '- That's English for ' There's Luib! And that means tarmac - Oh how I long to ride on thee once more! '
