Yes you read it correctly, ATTB, the"All Terrain Touring Bike" :LOL:

Take one 1998 Cannondale Silk Tour bicycle (with 1" of Headshock travel) , some 700c wheels, and well... that's all at the moment.

But, it should fit some fairly chunky 700c tyres, I believe the stock tyres were 38c, so I'm hoping there'll be a bit of "Fudge Factor" to allow slightly wider tyres.

I have a few questions for those in the know....

1. What are the two additional parts on the frame?

2. Why are there extra Rivnuts on the underside of the seat stays?

3. Where on Earth can I find the tool to remove the Stronglight bottom bracket?

It's a tourer, so probably to carry spare derailleurs... :)

I'm looking forward to seeing this.
 
Jim, been through the archives on http://www.vintagecannondale.com and can’t even find it. You sure on the year? The site has a serial number decoder to confirm year.
Bottom bracket looks like Shimano Octalink pattern. Think the splined ISIS tool fits as well. Have a selection of obsolete removers to try if you’re down this way. Don’t think the garage counts as being indoors ;)
My guess for the tabs on the seat stay is a dynamo mount. Chainstay one possibly for rear light.

Edit, I take it you’ve tried the standard Shimano cartridge bb tool?
If you’ve a set of calipers take a few measurements and I’ll compare my tools :shock:

Yeah, serial begins with "J" which is 1998, it has the 97-99 "C" style headtube decal. Only Silk Tour I can see in the 98 catalogue is the TS700, which is "Kiwi Green", this is a much darker green, plus has the odd attachments which are not seen in the catalogue, and it just says "Silk Tour Series" on the Top Tube, no model number.
If I'm really bored tomorrow I might check the 97/99 Catalogues...

Nope, the lockring teeth on the BB are way too small a diameter (like, only slightly greater diameter than the axle) , Velofrog's idea of a Freehub tool is nearer the mark I think.

Bike says to me European style trekking bike.
Extra rivnuts on seat stay for one of those frame mounted u-locks our German and Dutch compatriots favour.
The drive side tab is the rear mount for the chain guard.
The non drive side mount is for the dynamo.
The bike would be a drop bar touring/trekking bike, I spotted an identical one on Google images on a German site.
The bike was probably imported to mainland Europe, its not a UK aimed model.
Stronglight Sbbt bottom bracket needs removed with for example ParkTools BBT-5/FR-11 cassette lock ring tool I think. This lock ring tool doubles as a campagnolo bb tool but looks right for the stronglight. Campagnolo Centaur cartridge bb looks identical to the stronglight.
You stronglight bb axle might be titanium.
