Can't recall if anyone here has done the above although recall some rumblings from a year or two ago.

Building this back up for Panda 4, but as he's officially now taller than me, was thinking of slapping a 29" front sus on it. Any views?

Oe 69ers weren't uncommon. Seem to have died a death now though.

Main issue is it'll jack the front end up a fair bit, give you a slacker head and seat tube angle. And possibly funny steering.

It does tend to tip in a bit, like a motor cycle but not so much to worry. Has done four laps of mayhem like it. Stops incredibly well.

Enjoy

If you want the front wheel, disc and brake?

Re:

It's OK, but you really want 29" rear as well.
In which case with that bike you may be as well leaving it as is.

Re:

Needs new forks anyway, hence the question, however no desire to create something for the sake of it. Have 26" forks to put on anyway so may keep in normal format.

What about 27.5" front? :D

Re:

Idea works best with a suspension corrected 26er frame and a rigid 29er front end that should fit nicely with little affect on handling. Same idea pretty much with a half fat.
Historymans mad 69er in frame form now resides at Velo towers and will be staying in 69er form but with a shorter A-C rigid fork.
Front benefits of a 29er, that is the ability to ride over more stuff plus rear benefits of strength and quicker acceleration.
Disadvantages more noticeable if you stick a sus fork into mix as stated by others. Rigid is way to go with ghetto build 69ers
