Simply for the "one extreme to the other" dimension, my very recently bought and serviced 1989 Diamond Back Ascent. At 31 quid one-eightieth of the cost of the most expensive mtb I've owned, but for where/how I ride these days much better VFM! And the £2700 one was NOT >80x as fast...

Rourke is nice, but certainly looks post 1997 with all that shimano and v brakes. Nice entry.

XTR V's came put in the 1996 groupset.

Looks to me as M950 series which appeared in 1996......

a true nod to the old school, no suspension, no carbon just the way it was
