Just finished building this my my girlfriend's aunt who was after something light, fast and comfy! Got the frame plus about half the parts from Ribble, the wheels and bars came from the RB forums and the rest was a mix of eBay and CRC. Went for a modern machine (compact frame, carbon forks & spacers, 27 speed SIS, HTII and dual pivot brakes etc) with a kind of traditional look (Brooks saddle, flat bars and touring pedals) and wee bit of green bling to finish (bar ends, top cap, valves caps and crimps)... and here she is:

Ribble Audax compact aluminium frame
Deda Black Rain carbon fibre fork
carbon fibre spacers
Token semi-integrated headset
27 speed Shimano SIS
Ultegra Hollowtech II external BB
Halo Twin Rail tyres
Mavic Open Pro / Ultegra wheels
Brooks saddle
Tektro dual-pivot brakes
Lizard Skins Moab grips
S-Works seatpost
ITM stem
Race Face 'bars
KMC chain
KCNC anodised top cap & 'bar ends
anodised valve caps & crimps

weighs approx 22lbs (inc saddle!)

that's really nice, I did consider flat bars on my gazelle, might try it at some point.
