Sakae Litage 1995?

I picked this up today after winning a bargain on Ebay. Not sure what its worth but i feel i got a steal here. It was a 'pick up only' Ebay win so had to drive the 5 hour round trip to Barnstaple but even including the deisel in the price it was a great deal.

I've looked about the net and on here and have found it very hard to get info on these frames, what i do know is they were made in Japan and sold in the UK for about £350-400 for the frame back in the mid 1990s. It's an aluminium bonded frame, with some unusual features and in my opinion has some very sexy lines. In Japan they were sold under the name Sakae. The bike I just purchased was sold by Paul Milnes bike shop and he had his decals put on the frame, they have since been washed off by the previous owner except the ones seen on the seat stays.

The guy i bought it off today said he bought it off a semi-pro racer about 9 years back after he had fallen on bad times and since hes had it its mainly been sitting in the garage collecting dust. When i got it back i took of the horrible saddle that was on it and replaced it in the short term with a charge and i gave it a good clean getting all the sticker residue that had been left on. It cleaned up beautifully!

Well i'll let the pictures speak for themselves, i'm very happy with it and will be updating you on any upgrades:

Nice. I love the little SR Litage bolt cover detail. It would have gone for twice that easilly with your photos and posting available. Pickup only can be bargains.

Yes, very nice

While ago I spotted one with Ti tubing for sale. For the purpose of selling the seller made a touring bike of it using crap but new parts. The guy wasn't in for splitting, but wanted to see his investment back. Tough sell and a waste of effort, while he'd hoped to get rid if it easier when making a complete bike of it.

Spotted a Batavus MTB with Litage frame a month or so ago. For me the 1st confrontation with the fact that Batavus used Litage frames at some point.

Hi, I have a restored Litage / Sakae mountian bike for sale if any one is interested. I was thinking of putting this on eBay but would prefer it to go to someone who is interested. It has a lot of Vintage Campag parts. I was told that the hubs were record. Also has Campag thumb shifters - KR Graham...B

thedirtyroger doesn't seem to be with us any longer but I just found out by chance that these Litage were also sold under legendary 3Rensho brand in Japan, too.
Here are some relevant links from some lucky Japanese owners.
