Vitus 979 - Peugeot'd up

cardiffpugmug

Retro Newbie
Had this beauty for a steal on eBay, under £300. Total overhaul, nothing more than tyres, decals, grease and polish! She has come out stunning (in my humble opinion ;) ).

Part list in summary:

Vitus 979 Frame (57cm) & Forks - Frame No: E048401 (Help with age, suspect 1988?)
Shimano 600AX Groupset (Front & Rear Derailleur, Stem, Crank, Brake Levers and Calipers, Pedals (DynaDrive!))
Mavic Rims, Shimano Hubs, Shimano 7 Speed HG Cassette (not the 600AX), Cinelli Criterium bars.

She rides like a dream, super whippy and accelerates like a jet!

Feedback welcome :D

Nice :). The groupset is after my time but is the rear mech designed to avoid the use of outer ?

The outer is relatively short and there's a long lead in feed, but the cable ferrule on the chain stay and derailleur are certainly made to take an outer.

A very beautiful Peugeot and what a bargain!
It looks like it would ride superbly.
I'm sure it will give you many happy miles, enjoy.
Welcome to the forum as well.
