Gios Professional C-Record

Dirt Disciple
This one might not be for the Gios purists as the frame was repainted in Molteni orange by Cycleart. Confirmed by Gios as an '86 frame.
I've had this frame for a couple of years and I had it built up with Campag SR, but a C-Record group came my way so it got an upgrade.

Re:

Early Gios frames were that colour. Just look at the new limited edition frames built to mark Tolmin's 100th anniversary

Re:

^ This frame makes me wish the PO had painted the headtube blue.

I've ordered some Jagwire blue brake cable housing, and I'm hoping they are a dark enough blue to match the downtube bands. The next thing is to try and find a dark blue saddle, perhaps another Turbo, but they seem to be hard to come by.

I found this vintage ad a while ago, so it seems that early Gios frames were in fact orange.

They were indeed. I had one of my Rourkes painted that colour, I managed to get a Brooks swallow in blue

How much did the respray at Cycleart cost? Looks like they did a nice job.

I can't say exactly as the frame was repainted prior to my ownership. The frame is clearcoated over the decals and it seems to be good quality, apart from that the paint seems to chip too easily. I've heard this about a few Cycleart paint jobs. A while back I emailed them about getting some touch-up paint, but didn't even get a reply.

I looked at their website a couple years ago and it seems their repaints start at around $500+ USD. Although this frame was likely more. My frame has had metal "covers" brazed where the top tube cable holes were, as opposed to using those rubber cable guide things. And possibly the addition of a pair of bottle bosses on the seat tube.
