As the autumn approaches and riding outside is reduced, I have started stripping my 1983 Record Sprint. The 'gold' components are showing their age somewhat. My question to the forum is should I restore leaving the 'old' original look to the gold components or should I spray them or perhaps try the annodising route? A picture of the front hub shows the typical condition of most of the 'gold' components.

Got the hub stripped and cleaned ready to polish. What lubricant should I use for the bearings. Ball bearings and cone type.

Actually quite like it how it is! Just strip the whole hub down, clean everything within an inch of it's life and get it running mechanically sound again

personally I'd do a as new restoration but that's just what I like to do.

Option 4 :)

Personally, I never liked the gold annodising, so I'd dump them in oven cleaner, strip it all off and then polish them to a mirror finish.
