Currently with seized quill seatpost, in need of front wheel to match the rear. Not sure what the front wheel is but its larger than 700c, anyone know if this is desirable or junk?

Re:

Hi,

This appears to be a Peugeot `Routier` , if you post this link into your browser it`s the one top left as it appears in the 1984 UK Cycles Peugeot Catalogue .

It looks as though its been tinkered with in the past, a lot of the components are non original, the TA chainset is probably worth more than the bike itself currently !.
The front wheel is 27 x 1 1/4 which is larger than the correct wheel size which is 700c. You should be able to pick up a decent 700c wheel for around a tenner but I would source a matching pair off ebay or even buy another donor bike. ( I often buy a whole cheap bike just for the wheels , check gumtree for something locally ).
The 501 is a decent robust frame, I think just the main triangle is 501 tubing? but these old Pugs are well made and should make a comfortable sports tourer.
I wouldnt spend too much on bits, it will never be worth much but could make you a nice ride.

Thanks for the reply and information.
No intention of spending lots on it or trying to make it fully original, just looking to get it cleaned up and running nicely.
Hopefully I can sort the wheels out cheap - I'm in Northern Ireland so there's not as much on Gumtree or about as there is on the Mainland.

I've just seen your thread on your Peugeot, looks lovely - you've done a great job with it!
