Evening all, I've been absent from the 'retro scene' for a bit as I've been distracted by things more modern but I fancied building something retro to have a go at some TTs this summer. I picked up this frame today from a chap on Ebay, the rear wheel, and all shiny Campagnolo bits are donated by the RBoTM Castorama team replica I built. The 650C front wheel is a NOS Campagnolo Omega 19 rim on a new Ambrosio 28h hub which I've built up in a radial pattern.

The butchered ITM handlebars and stem came from France and the tri bars came attached to a Cinelli handlebar/stem combo that I will post for sale on here soon. I'm just waiting on a pair of NOS Michelin Hi LIte Supercomp HD 650C front tyres to come from the USA.

I'll get round to sorting swapping the brake levers over on the weekend and I'll wrap the bars with white Benotto tape. The 13-23 Regina America freewheel will also give way to a 12-21 when it arrives. Then it'll be full steam ahead to be humiliated at my first 10 mile TT since 1991!

Hopefully I will be able to post up the final version shortly. I was going to have it painted but the colour scheme is growing on me!

90s tastic! So is that an aluminium frame hiding under the paint?

Great isn't it? It's not aluminium, it's steel akin to Reynold's 653 bonded (glued) into cast aluminium lugs rather than brazed with steel lugs.

You just need to respray it in Castorama colours now!!

My first TT of the season last night. Not fun at all.

Hi Matt, decals ordered from Greg already! A job for the winter though, I'll ride it like it is For the time being.

Until then I am trying to resist the temptation to buy a Campagnolo disc wheel off EBay!

This is too cool. If you don't buy it a disc wheel I'll fine you €5.

Crikey...punitive measures here on RetroBike! Anyone know of a period correct Campagnolo disc wheel that doesn't cost the earth???

Re:

Looking forward to seeing the evolution on this - lot of work but the result should be epic!

http://velobase.com/ViewComponent.aspx? ... 1&AbsPos=8 - they go for about £300 but finding one that hasn't been abused may mean you need some patience. Biggest problem with them is that the ali braking strip starts to separate at the join - make sure you investigate this before buying. I'm looking for a 650c front at the moment and it's proving difficult to find a good one.
