Alan Super Record 1986

Seemingly I have an inherent like for lugged bikes so I thought an Alan would fit the bill nicely. I spotted this and saw the possibilities underneath that mish-mash of components. As it turned out it's a 1986 frame so I thought the 1986 Campagnolo group would be a good a place as any to start. It's not a cheap option!

As purchased....

It turned out to be a worldwide hunt for components; USA, Germany, France, Russia.

Replacement decals with an Italian flavour. Full 1986 groupset, with the possible exception of the headset? Very difficult to distinguish between the various incarnations but it does look identical to the catalogue from that year. Cinelli 1R stem & Giro D'Italia bars, I'm not convinced by the tricolor Benotto tape but after cutting 3 rolls up I'm not about to start again just yet. Cinelli Volare saddle, period look pedals, it will need new tubs as those are Wolber Piste which, although nice, are a puncture waiting to happen given the roads around here.

Re:

A great ALAN!!! Its one of those bikes that is on the top of my short list. Yours is perfect with the Campagnolo components, it doesnt get any better.

That's a big improvement

I'd be doing something wrong if i didn't improve it - as bought was a complete dogs dinner but the frame was in superb condition.

Thank-you Mike, glad you like it - it's a lovely thing to ride, the Regina Oro freewheel makes an addictive noise! Not good for maintaining a good pace  Extremely light as well, 9.03Kg; not too bad with a weighty saddle & delta brakes.
