Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990 - complete

I'm getting a bit out of my comfort zone here but a new project! This one might take a while to get right...

A full on Tommasini Super Prestige 1990 in Columbus SLX 55 cm in great knick for its age, no dents just the odd chip and scratch, it's fully chromed I think and over-painted in shiny blue metallic. I've always wanted one of these ever since since seeing a picture in Cycling Weekly all those years ago - well I finally found a good one.

I've got a few bits as you can see, fitted the headset (I think it's C-Record) and I have the wheels C Record/Open4CD. I don't want to go silly with pantoed parts but I think this should be 1990 Record/Chorus of which I've never owned a full gruppo so I'm a bit out of my depth, but really excited.

That's a stunner - superb paintscheme. That's going to be a great looking bike when you've done.

I'm doing a similar build at the moment - Chorus from the late 80's / early 90's. Properly good components.

No denying the Italians were experts at fancy paint jobs.

Absolutely gorgeous... Look forward to seeing it finished.

A classic frame with great attention to detail.

Cheers for the comments and encouragement. So the first update - a good clean later and a little touch up with some blue nail varnish...

Acquired the first bits - it had to be really didn't it - shiny Deltas :D These are Croce d'Aune so I might have to find the matching CdA drive train now ;) The modern Vittoria's are going to look the part too I think...

Stunning frame... It can really match the Delta's... not many frames that they really looks good on in my opinion.

Lovely, I don't really go for Tommasini paint jobs, but yours is a really nice one. It'll look good with all Croc d'Aune.

They are super hubs too. I've got a pair on my 1980 Merckx with Campag Record Strada, totally out of place but who cares, they're bomb proof.

Are you going to use down tube shifters on it ?

Matching tyres and brake tabby things

(what are they called , those tabby things under the blocks?)

Re: Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990

A bit of an update. Firstly decided that the old Mavic rims were too scuffed up for this build so first in some NOS Campag Omega 19s and a NOS Regina Syncro 1992 7 speed. A 14-28 because this is a machine for sunny Sunday afternoons after all.

Found some reasonable parts a low mileage CdA derailleur and chainset so far, but pride of place, Tommasini sell the new Cinelli 1A, not (yet?) via the Polish Panto Butcher, the real thing and some matching new Giro d'Italia's. You know when you first start these projects vowing not to break the bank - expecting some levers and shifters this week ;)

Anyone else noticed how much the mail has slowed down for parcels since the flotation?
