I recently offered to restore the father-in-laws Raleigh RX100 road bike, though it would be quite easy, turned out to be wrong, but loved every minute of it.
The paint scheme is a little strange, but has grown on me, I've not seen many about on the net or any where really. I will be offering the space in my garage, for storage use only though lol.
The bike was running a full Shimano RX100 groupset in white, so just had the cranks sprayed in a white pearl. The lad who paints my bikes is pretty good, close up they are like brand new. Theres a few things I would have done different, now the bike is complete, the bar tape and cable routing isn't perfect. At least its finished in time for his birthday.
That cable route to the rear brake is the same on my Raleigh, I found when I did it like you have it didn't brake that well so I over-routed it and the braking is a lot better. Not the greatest bit of design by the Raleigh bods.
Those cranks do look brand new, as does the whole bike - that'll go down a treat as a Birthday present. Sterling effort all round.
