Retro Newbie
Hi All,
For anyone who's interested, spent 2 or 3 weekends getting my 1988 Peugeot HLE Premier back on the road after approx 20yrs in storage with a 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it...' mantra
Renewed all cabling, brake blocks, tyres and inners... stripped and greased the axles (but not the BB - not got the correct tool to remove the BB and i haven't tried the blunt chisel and hammer approach...)

Everything else is original... just spit & polish... (old-school reflectors now removed...)

Been commuting to work (12km round trip) over the last couple of weeks...
Shake down reports...
Day 1 - rear axel worked loose
Day 3 - Gear cable 'jumped' - the L shaped cable nut rotated 90° - easy fix...
Raised the bandlebar position...
Other than that... all good...

Concerns...
Head down riding position in traffic...
Brakes.... Hmmm... poor as expected for the era...
Using Hooked Clincher Gatorskin tyres on Straight Walled Clincher rims (700Cx2:cool:

Future thoughts...
Indexed gears? Is this possible without a new rearwheel?
Flat handlebars? For commuting purposes...

Thanks for looking...
