measured it at 126 and tried to fit a 130 wheel . struggled a bit but it went in . :?

Strange as after cleaning the seat tube and greasing, it was ok.

I can only assume that mine has been eased to 130mm at some point in the past then.

4mm is not a big deal on a steel frame.
