Not quite classic Colnago Classic.

This came up locally for a good price and frankly I was tired of braking with my knees on my Petrus, and wanting to get out and do some decent rides.

Its a Colnago Classic, I would guess '97-99 model. Groupset is 9 speed Mirage drivetrain, as are the hubs and brakes, brifters are Record, rims are some sort of burly Rigida product and the headset is Campagnolo also. Seat is a somewhat worn but comfy Rolls, post is Ritchey, has some kind of enormous and horrid ergo bars and adaptor/bonty threadless stem setup.

As I picked it up, full shunter spec with trainer-worn Bonty tyres and mountain bike style riding position...

So for now I flipped the ugly stem over and slung on some veloflex tyres I had. Stem is too short, bars are awful, so looking for a 120mm cinelli quill stem and a 64-40 or 64-42 criterium or giro bar.

Happily its had quite light use and is in very tidy condition.

Where next? Once the cockpit is sorted I'd like to build the hubs into some H.Plus Son TB14s in hard ano with some Vittoria open corsa evo skinwalls.

Pretty much in its final form now. I have some suitably careworn looking neon yellow to pink fade Look PP76 to fit when I can be bothered. Been very happy with it, handling is great and it's very comfortable. It's a bit of a tank but that's ok.

Sure has come a long way from this sad state!

Oh, also, anyone know what year it would be? I am thinking '97 or '98. Component dates don't mean much as it was built frame up.
