year of manufacture

Looking for info on my latest purchase, Hirame Kuwahara road bike. want to confirm year of manufacture. serial number is as follows, 2 10 72852. was told its 70,s wheels dated 85, any ideas? Looks more 80,s to me.

early 80's and normally they were only available as frame sets . but very nice to ride

Thanks for that, someone took pride in building it up into a nice bike. Low gearing, quality chainset, nice Regina wheels, centre pull brakes, all I need now is some good weather.

The serial number probably missing a digit in the first position, probably an "8".

This would make the serial number 82 10 72852. The year of frame manufacture 1982, the month October.

The first digit is not a "7" because Kuwahara did not use that format of frame number in 1972.
