well, that's the bike built at last and just a note to say a big
THANK YOU to everyone one here that helped me put it
together. it weighs around 20lbs (about the same as
my 753) and really is too good to use as a winter bike, but
the belly tells me differently!!

if anyone has a dura ace chainset (7400 etc) for sale in
177.5/ 180mm length cranks to finish it off properly,
then please give me a shout.

many thanks,

craig :)

Smashingly well done, and you must be a tall chap!

7-11 team still one of my favorites, so the bikes also get the nod.

Also I have 2 sets of 7400 cranks so I will look and see if either is long enough.

cheers - it's not quite a full Dura Ace groupset but knowing me
it will no doubt become that way one day soon as i become
more obsessed about the whole 7 eleven era!!

One question - why 7 Eleven??

the frame came up for sale on ebay recently and that was that!!

i've always loved the 80s as far as cycling is concerned - i was
racing back then and rode the bike every minute that god sent.
it was a great time in my life, full of youthful adventure - everything
was exciting back then!

great memories indeed.

That's a passionate reply and I admire that. Hope the bike gives you many more happy hours out on the road.

Have to agree on the period, got a Bianchi for a birthday in '87 and remember watching the TDF on C4 and then jumping on the bike and riding for hours. Wasn't fortunate to 'actually' race though.

Think you may just have inspired me on my next purchase or build - something TDF from late 80's - early 90's. Going to research the teams of the time and see what inspires me most.

Cheers, you've made my night with your Merckx.

That is my all time favourite Merckx colour scheme, just pipping Motorola.

Love it (and looking out for one in 21.5"!!)

worth around half of what dick turpin here is asking - he's had it on ebay for a couple of months
and at that price i'm not surprised he's taking offers now!!
