Having had my Raleigh Competition stolen as a teenager, I finally got round to tracking down a replacement some 30 years later. It was in a sorry state when I found it, but most of the original parts were present and after more hours than I care to recall, I managed to restore most of them and hunt down replacements for the rest.

It's now painted in a a two tone red/ gold flip paint

Yes, it was a rattle can job. it was going great until the last coat of lacquer orange peeled and I had to wait for it fully cure, before cutting it back and polishing it. All worked out well in the end.

Hi Shaun,
It was funny, as the guy was giving it away with a Bill Nickson originally. It was pure chance that I happened to notice this in the backgorund of the photo. He couldn't believe that I wanted to buy the rusty old Raleigh on it's own.
