Raleigh 531c Race

Well, this retro bike bug has bit hard, hot on the tail of restoring my Mercian, playing around with my Carlton Super Course single speed, I have only gone and bought another.

This time it is a circa 1980 Raleigh 531c Race frame with a smattering of Campagnolo, Shimano and Gipiemme components.

It's going to be a little project for my eldest son. Strip down, clean, repair, regrease etc then either sell as a whole bike or sell it off bit by bit.

We are going to keep a running tally of income / expenditure so that he can build up his business sence and hopefully earn a bit of extra pocket money along the way.

For me, I just like giving these old bikes and components a new lease of life, to take something old and on its last legs and turn it into something that will be valued and appreciated again.

It's too small for me and too big for my son. It's a 21.5" frame and I need a 23". My ad could grew into it I suppose but that wasn't the point!
