Well ... I have finally had my first reasonable ride on the road ... loved it.

Was oddly familiar to be using down tube shifters and clip pedals after such a long time. No computer, PM or HRM ... just an old bike.

Everything worked perfectly, I had a pocket full of tools but the only fix was to tighten the bar clam as the bars rotated a bit on the bumps ...

As I was taking the below photo a bloke in a car stopped and said "nice bike mate ..." :D

I have summarised the final changes here, I now consider this finished and will get on with riding it ... that is of course until I find that 50th rear hub.

A big thank you to all those on here who have provided invaluable advice and parts. I could not have done it without this forum.

After some reflection I decided that the black side walls just did not look right.

For years I have ridden Veloflex Pave/Masters/Corsa (all the same tyre) and Records which are all great tyres but the sidewalls get so dirty.

So, I got my hands on a set of Challenge Criteriums, these have a more orangey colour and the sidewall has some sort of rubberised coating so I am hoping they wont get so dirty. In terms of ride quality I cant tell the difference from the Veloflex Corsa.

 all my other bikes have pedals from the dark side ... there are some practical considerations, this way it gets ridden more.

Almost 400 miles so far since the renovation was completed ...
