Modern Compact Chainset on 1989 bike?

I'm rebuilding this 1989 Gazelle. I've bought a 50/34 FSA chainset for it as the old Mavic 53/42 was a bit hard going with a 13-23 cassette.

I sourced some RSX 7 speed index shifters, RSX rear mech and RX100 front, which look good, but the chainset looks very modern by comparison.

A new square taper, or even a <shudder> Octalink chainset will look fine on that, the time it starts looking a bit odd is with HT2.

Having said that I have a 1982 (the only year they did them in 531) Holdsworth Avanti with a complete Ultegra 6600 groupset. Looks a little odd to the purists, but I am fine with it.

This is it with the previous groupset (Tiagra)
