Ive just started work on restoring a 1984 Raleigh Sirocco. It has been powder coated at www.lsn-coatings.co.uk in Castleford for the cost of £40, my plan is to fit a 7 speed shimano 1055 groupset. Hopefully this will make a nice bike.

Sounds like an interesting build, I have just got a Raleigh Record Sprint that needs restoration, I won't be doing any painting, just getting the bike back on the road, with a few changes from the original spec. Have you got wheels?

So have you got everything you need? What sort of time scale are you looking at to get the build finished? My dad had a Raleigh racer in the late 60'S, it was very similar in appearance to your frame.

How's it going? Took the bottom bracket out of my Raleigh Record sprint, now I have a lot of ball bearings and a broken race! Hope you are getting on better than me...

Interested to see how this pans out. I've an unrestored '83 which I use for commuting and road runs when I can't get out on my mtb.
Some folk look down on the 501 tubes but I've no complaints. Pretty light when you come onto it from a mountain bike and a nice ride.
