Proper steel cyclocross

Hello,

I bought this before christmas but have only just had the chance
to get it into a rideable state.

The frame is from Hoogewijs Sport, presumably one of the 1000s of
old shops that built bikes in Belgium. AFAIK it is from early 1970s. It is nicely made, with partial wrap around seat stays, campag drop outs, nice lugs...

It came with a mix of (presumably) original parts and some 'upgrades'.
I have built it up with mostly Campagnolo Nuovo Record parts, with the following exceptions:

Mafac cantis (original).
Universal (I think) brake levers. These allow for some adjustment of the
brakes, which you definitely need with old cantis.
Shimano 600 aero seatpost, 26.8mm, with a Flite saddle. I want to replace these with a campag post and unicanitor saddle, but will have to wait a bit til I can afford it!
Pivo stem and bars.

I was going to just take it for a little test ride but couldn't resist taking it out in the mud. Maybe it is sacrilege to abuse classic old parts like that, but it was a lot of fun. The ride is really nice.

Don't yet know what exactly to do with this. The paint is rough. I had a vague idea to do a respray in Flandria colours as a De Vlaeminck tribute.

Thanks for looking and for any comments.

Johnny
