This is my first go at building an old school road bike

1981 (so I was told) Koga Miyata Proracer S with a mix of mainly Dura Ace 7700 bits and modern parts. I'll post up better pics when I get some done in the daylight and I'll add a spec sheet (still need to source some 7700 cranks and a better seatpost)

I've had the same here. Bar seat pretty much original >>

It was an absolutely lovely riding bike.

There were two years for this frame: 1984 and 1985 if I recall correctly. One MY had a chromed stay while the other hadn't. You can verify on Kogas website. You'll find all catalogues there.

Is that a Vitus fork you have?

Thanks for the info on the catologues. From those mine looks like 1984 frame. Certainly not an 1981 as I was told when I bought it

I planned to build a bike that looks retroesque but has some of the functionality of a newer bike hence the 9 speed gearing and better brakes

IIRC The forks are a pair of Kinesis aluminium ones. Nothing too fancy but a lot lighter than the originals. And these don't have a stem stuck in the steerer :)

You are quiteg correct as it does ride very nicely

I like those Koga bikes.

Might have to get a Dutch Machine later in the year when more funds are rattling around.

I'm also a fan of Batavus, & Duell.

Nice machine

The frame uses Miyatas own Hardtlite FM-1 tubing, the top set for that year. A year later spline butting was added to the FM-1 specification. Another great feature with the frame is the paint: beautifull deep and durable quality.
