1975 Peugeot PR10 - project update. Thavenet Theme

Retro Guru
Well I have finished the Peugeot PR10 off.

The bike was burgundy red but had it blasted, now has a bit of a 'Thavenet' theme, well nod to - going on, silver with a few gold accents.

The original forks were crude, I had a nicer set around that fitted which was lucky.

Had to change a few bits to get it where I wanted.
Velo orange french threaded sealed bottom bracket was a good spend.

Used most of a velo orange headset aswell, but had to use a different locking nut.

Cinelli 66-42 bars
Campag shifters replaced the simplex criterium which were mank.
I went for a 3ttt saddle, could not find a reasonably priced ideale 2001 but this fits the bill exactly. I have also reconditioned the original Ideale saddle and keep swapping it over can't make up my mind which looks better.
Stronglight 49D crank cleaned up well....
Rear deraillieur is a gipiemme badged Simplex super LJ...works lovely.

Lovely little bike. Turns in fast, enjoyable to ride....already came off though, slipping on wet leaves ha! ha! numpty.Funny how you get connected to these damn bikes

PR 10 - More Photos

Thought I would put a few more photos up.

It is one of those bikes that looks even better in the metal.
There is a charm about it that I can't quite put my finger on, but then I am biased.

I think it bridges the gap between PR 10 and a PX10....... maybe a PRX 10 ha! ha!

PR 10 - More Photos

3ttt Seat works well visually, ties in well with the overall appearance. Snatched it a laughable price.

Put some Campag down shifters on, really wanted some simplex ones but could not source any. I have a set of Shimano Arabesque which I toyed with putting on but didn't in the end as I thought I would keep it all European - (In truth the shimano bits are better made though.)

Kept the Criterium front Mech, which works suprisingly well.

I replaced the bottom bracket with a very tidy Velo Orange Grand Cru French threaded item which I am well pleased with.

French Threads are a pain in the arsenal...

Nice job. Looks really good in the silver. I like the gold downtube shifters as well. Just sort that saddle out will you?

Mark.

I was going to say that but I'm much to polite ;)

I like the finish with the 'speckles' in it. What is it called?

Oh, BTW, it's ThEvenet not Thavenet. My daughter's partner (who is French) knows him (very) slightly.

Thevenet....homage

Thanks for the compliments much appreciated....

apologies about the spelling.. Thevenet.

Got her powdercoated in Hackney - Armourtex.
The guy just told me best silver!!! - Think they did a good job.

I had frame and two forks done. masked and clear lacquered for less than £100.

I'll take on board the moans about the saddle!!

Like the red one.

Only kidding, it looks fantastic, love the colour, and the smatering of gold.

You've done a excellent job.

Where did you get the transfers...

Now if only I could find the original in a skip

Here's the pics that influenced the rebuild.

Also my very first drop handlebar was a Pug, I promptly crashed it into a wall after 2 days of ownership in Christmas '79. Mashing my head and mangling the bike...... ah sweet nostalgia.
