Terry Dolan COUGAR Reynolds 753

MarkinOz

Dirt Disciple
Managed to secure ownership of this beauty last week but she’s a long way from home as I bought her in Sydney, Australia!!

The previous owner said that he’d been given the bike by Malcolm Elliot after he had been racing here in the early 90s?? Have sent Terry and Malcolm messages via their socials to try and see if they can fill in some of the blanks.

She’ll need a little love and attention (especially on the cromed forks) but the rest of the frame seems to be in good shape. As are the components, a near complete C-Record Groupset with last Gen Delta’s.

Missing the seatpost and the hubs. The Campagnolo Ypsilon Strada rims are laced to earlier Record hubs (apparently Malcolm wouldn’t part with the original wheels or pedals) so would like to complete the Groupset at some point.

Looking forward to this restoration.....

Ooh very cool.

Some serious kitchen foil polishing of those forks seems in order.

I have to confess that as a teenager I never liked Elliot because I was a Joey McLaughlin fan and I thought Elliot was too flash and fancied himself. I realise now what a rider he was and was for a very long time.

Super cool thing to have, that!

Those brakes. Are they Deltas ?
Yes!! Last of the C-Record incantation or also known as 4th Gen Delta’s. The 5 pivot engineering under the faring are a work of art!! :D

Re:

I always wondered why they didn't continue with that model and gradually work it through the range. Damned good brakes. Campag missed a trick there, but then they missed many. Maybe that's why they are where they are now.

What size frame is it? To me it looks a bit larger than I remember Malcolm riding but the name stamped on the BB could mean otherwise. I do however really like the colour :)

Managed to send Malcolm some photos of the bike which he remembers (although he said the colouring was different) and he was kind enough to give me his riding dimensions for Seat tube to Centre (23”) and his stem length (12.5cms) which both checked out on the frame.
