CB Sapphire Restoration Project

Retro Newbie
Hi All,

I recently came into possession of a 1967 Claud Butler Sapphire. I got expert help identifying the frame (http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;start=90) and have now started to examine the box of parts that came with it.

I think the bars and stem are original, and perhaps the brake levers, but am not convinced the rest is original despite the similarity of the chainring to the one shown in the original advert. Can anyone cast further light on the parts that I have please? I'm totally out of my depth with retro bikes, but learning as fast as I can.

I don't know the logo that is engraved into the crank arm, nor the one I can barely make out on the lower left of the brake arm (last photo)

Thanks in advance for the collective's help.
Gary

Re:

The crankset is a Raleigh item, as is this one:

Ok, let’s see
Weinmann brake levers are correct, but the brakes would have been Weinmann centre pulls (see my electron Superfive below in my signature).
Raleigh crankset obviously wrong, would have been a Williams.
GB spear point stem is correct.
The spec is in the 1967 catalogue on the Nkilgariff history site (click on my catalogue links below)
A good place to research parts (so you that you know you’re buying the right thing on eBay) is the Vellobase site here; http://velobase.com/
Ps for some reason I can only access it via my pc.
