Re: 1997(?) Principia 700 -> finished soon

Thank you for the kind words, cloonaghpat!

Yes I’m thinking white bar tape too. Might even try a white saddle. Let’s see.

Re: 1997(?) Principia 700 -> finished!

Seriously smart looking ride, top work! The white tape & saddle are a worthy addition.

Re: 1997(?) Principia 700 -> finished!

That is the view from my bed. I was too lazy to get up. Sorry!

Thanks for the comments!

Re: 1997(?) Principia 700 -> finished!

Wonderful. Just wonderful. Thank you for asking.

I read my earlier comments and really cannot understand why have I felt like the ride is harsh. It’s not. Could it be I have just adapted to way aluminium bike rides. Dunno. I love this bike. Just the right size and everything works beatifully.

Edit. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the weight! For some strange reason this bike ended up weighing as much as about 8.3kg and that is terrible next to my sub-6kg single speed bike that I’ve gotten used to this summer. But of course this is just a mental thing as the weight is not felt when actually riding so I guess I’ll manage. (I do have a Record carbon RD and ti cassette waiting so I could swap those to save a tiny bit of weight but maybe I can’t be bothered.)

Re: 1997(?) Principia 700 -> finished! (page 4)

The bike looks great. Interesting choice of 1x10, I wondered if the drop outs would take more gears so now I know. I have admired these for a while and bought one as a part ex recently. It is the same colour, but the paint is in worse condition. Mine has an unpainted alloy fork and ahead stem so may be a bit later version or had the fork changed, the groupset is 105 8 speed with downtube shifters, but the wheel rims are Campag with 105 hubs. I have not taken it for a long ride, but so far it feels quite smooth and compares favourably with my Vitus Futural for ride quality.
