Old take on a 'new' idea

I think they call them Gravel Bikes these days.
Take one 20+ year old 753 touring frame, add a splash of paint and a Dura Ace triple group, bomb-proof Mavic 719's and a few bits n bobs and go and show the carbonistas a thing or two about real bikes. ;)

Re:

Very nice and I bet it’s a great tool for the job

To be fair gravel bikes do have a nice offer, 40mm tyre clearance, 10/11 speed, single chain ring, hydraulic discs, internal cable runs, tubeless wheels, and geometry somewhere between a CX and a endurance road bike

Actually, suspect they would suit a lot of the ex mtbers on here that grew up on rigid 26ers.

Re:

Thanks for the positive comments.
753 touring frameset are very rare. For many years Reynolds didn't make chain stays in 753 long enough. It rides beautifully. Very responsive for a bike with a longer wheelbase.
Tempting as it was to put a black groupset on (I have a 5800 kicking about). there is nothing quite as cool as a 753/7800 combo. I have a Rick Powell like that and it's sublime.

Lovely, looks like it’s come straight from the shop. You will have a lot of fun on that bike I’m sure
