Mikes' Cougar : Finished, and first ride

I think Clive moved his on.

I thought his might have been the Mapei one too but once I checked the build thread, Im not so sure. The lining in the paintwork is totally different although it does have flashes of the Colnago AD10 paintjob.

At 1997, it was possibly an early attempt at a Colnago-esque paintjob but its not a Mapei copy to the same degree as the Casino and Rabobank versions.

Have a look and see what you think.

Re:

It's very Mapei-esque isn't it. Early Mapei that is, before they went all spotty!
What happened to the Casino one, Neil?

Good shout Mike.

Much closer than I thought, but definitely looks earlier than the Casino or Rabobank ones. It might even be that the it's simply a Mapei sticker on a standard AD10 paintjob of the period.

This one looks to be the same era as the Casino and Rabobank C40's. The paint lining is the same style.

I've definitely never seen a Cougar that looked like this though.

Found it!!!

Mapei C40 and Cougar copy below. Now I just need to find one in my size!

The only fly in the ointment is that one of the two examples I've found images of cites it as fluted Reynolds ALU tubing. It does look different from the Deda ones.
