Just laying a marker down for a new project. Building myself a new ride for Eroica. Picked up a restored X4 from late 80s.

Ugh... Minging. Especially that colour!

Is it in the 54-56 C-T range?

If so, how much to save you being seen riding it? :P

‘‘Tis a 57cm - nice and medium! Wasn’t cheap but when you see Raleigh frames making £900 on eBay, a relative bargain.

Just gotta work out what to put on it :-)

My Campione D'Italia is a 57 C-C and I've been riding that for... well a while...So you should still sell it to me. :P

Its absolutely gorgeous, so it deserves C-Record or if you can cope with not doing Eroica on it, an 8 or 9 speed ergo lever groupset... Record, obviously.

Decisions decisions...
So the choices are:
1. I bought a donor bike with Campag 50th anniversary which I’ve stripped ready
2. I’ve got a Roorke with complete 1st gen C Rrcord Delta group. The problem is that it’s mint with original bar tape and cables so I’m reluctant to split it.
3. I’ve got a Pinarello on eBay which I could split - with full Record Titanium 9 speed ergo.

I’m leaning towards option 1 - just need to space out the rear axle a bit.

Oooooh... tough one.

I assume its 130 spacing?

1. Too early but ready to fit.
2. Period but definitely painful to move over
3. Nearly period if slightly too late. No spacing issues though...

I'd go 3.

Advice on spacing the hub. What is the best practice for this. The current hubs are 126mm and dished for 6 speed. Do I need a longer axle or can I pack it out with a washer each side? Is it acceptable to use 1mm per side increasing to 128mm? Would this have an effect on chainline?
