The wife said to me "It's better to buy your own Christmas present as you always get what you want"
She is a genius I must say :xmas-big-grin:

So having put out the feelers for another frame over the forums I had a few offers but nothing quite took my fancy. :| I had a few frames in my watch list one I had made an offer on a couple of times before but always refused. With nothing turning up I contacted the seller again and submitted my usual offer not really expecting it to be accepted, but to my surprise and delight the seller caved in and accepted the offer.

So on Friday whilst out at work mrs bling sent me a txt say a parcel had arrived, to say I was excited was an understatement  then she sent me a picture.

It wasn't quite what I expected.

with excitement dulled I finished the job and headed home.

The wife can be such a joker sometimes  get in the door and see this.

After a lot of weasling I convinced her I had to open it up and check it after all it supposed to be an xmas prezzy ;) .

It was well packed :xmas-big-grin:

The paint work on the frame has more chips than my local chippy :? but I was aware of this hence why I didn't give him his asking price. The chrome is all good and the paint work would be ok without the chips. So trying to weigh up the cost of restore or repaint. :?:
one on hand I am thinking restore as its all to easy to just repaint the frame and lose the originality but I don't want it looking like polka dots either.

on the other I really liked the paint job on my Perry and do a colnago type version.

Is it to far damaged to restore ???

The frame is a Master Piu (if you haven't guessed already) number 16 from January 1990 so didn't have the precisa forks at the time as these were released later in the year.

Re: Santa came early Colnago content

paint doesn't look too bad, I think you could touch it up ok. depends how many chips there are though...

There are quite a few Andy :(

I'm going to take it to a airbrush specialist after Crimbo and get a second opinion.

I also found out searching the net that the precisa fork was available in 1987 do I swap forks too ? decisions decisions...

Re: Santa came early Colnago content

They're really nice.

My advice would be to keep the original forks, and go for a custom respray of your choice. It's always been on my list to have a custom spray job on a master.

Re: Santa came early Colnago content

A guy here in my neighbourhood is official Colnago sprayer (and former airbrush artist) and this is some of his work:

Looking at the frame (I had it out of the box again hehe) there is so much damage I'm liking your thinking Ben

Like your next project Clive! So you're going Shimano, right? :xmas-big-grin: :xmas-big-grin:

Be interesting to hear what the air brush chap has to say
