LOOK KG 171. 1996 in gloss black.

Been a very bad boy!!!

Was looking for a TVT but this appeared...looks rather small but it is a 55cm, seems to be the fashion on more modern frames to drop the bottom bracket height. Top tube is a 56cm so that is spot on for as all my other rides.

Came with titanium bottle cage bolts but a steel steerer tube?

The wheels are not the ones to be fitted but I am liking the look of deep section rims on it! Maybe gloss 3K to match the frame?

First Congratulation - yes indeed they really ride well and in my opinion very comfortable
What's your Intention for the components to equip it. Classic as a Youngtimer from 90s or with more modern parts

The LOOK LDS KG 171 frame set had been builded from 1994(... when French rider Luc Leblanc became WC 1994 with a blue one)
up to the end of 1998 I think

for inspiration eventually ... here I have 2 of them - both builded up in a timely corresponded Team ONCE TechSpec

1995 in yellow buildet with a 8-speed Shimano Dura Ace 7410

1996 a limited ONCE Edition Tour de France in pink equipped with a 9-speed Shimano Dura Ace 7700 - PP296 pedals has been changed to black in the meantime

in my opinion a 8-speed Mavic, i.e. mechanical Version of a ZAP 800 ZMS groupset has been for bikes up to 1992 like an LOOK KG 96 or 176 or 196 but not a 171.

in 1996 all awaiting MAVICs 2nd and last shot for electronic groupset *the Mektronic*, which has been verbidden from UCI before starting Pro-Season 1996.

Re:

Nice project! Mavic would look good on that frameset, 7 or 8 speed

Was 9 speed around in 1996? Thought the pros started using it in 1997.

8 speed probably was being ridden then...but I do love the last of the Mavic mechanical groupsets so I'll stick with that unless a Record group comes along a good price.

I'm not too bothered about time specific builds...mine get ridden not looked at.

Quite right too, it will be different in its own right using the Mavic

That picture troubles me...not sure whether the the bike is more stunning than the scenery or vice versa...or maybe the sum of the two parts is greater then the whole.

Any ways...stunning whichever bit you're looking at!
