1960 Carlton Flyer

Spokesmann

rBoTM Triple Crown

This is my latest acquisition, it wasn't planned, but this was pointed in my direction - how could I refuse!

Flyer, c1960 on an H prefix no. 531 frame, 23.5" with Carlton long line lugs. Carlton supplied forks with a shorter rake to give fag paper clearances. 10-speed half step gearing should be interesting on the Devon hills... period Campag mechs, Bayliss Wiley large flange hubs. Due to close clearance on forks fitted with Weinmann 500s. Williams chainset, 27x 1-1/8" tyres. Still setting the bike up as I've only picked it up today. It's been fully repainted and restored at Mercian in Derby. Very much looking forward to getting this one out on the road, will be kept in racing trim.

Re:

Slightly odd question, but what shoes do you wear?

I ask because I don't ride my 78 Lloyd as much as I should, mostly because I find clips and straps such a fiddle which I am sure is mostly down to my shoes.

A mixture, Ive got Shimano SPD shoes without the cleats basically, I do have some SPD shoe with more of a sole/grip though.

That is a true thing of beauty Mike!
Have been following the posts on the facebook group with the back story and your ride impressions so far.
It's come to a good home, for sure.
Enjoy and wish you nothing but happy miles with it.

Jamie

A lovely piece of Carlton history...

And with proper Beefcake gearing from back in the day!

Yes, 10-speed step gearing and I need to get a tad fitter to get up some of my usual hills! Im getting there...
