Cougars in Captivity

Re:

I'm truly ashamed to admit that I have blue tyres on my Reparto Corse...new wheels are on the way...I'm a serial collector of NoS Benotto bar tape...always used white BiTD.

Amberwalls on everything else...any suggestions as I need a new pair for my Roberts ?

Jon.

Re: Cougars in Captivity - right zoo this time

Nowt wrong with LIGHT blue tyres on a Bianchi, nor indeed on my very Celesty Cougar...

I think white tyres would look great on your Roberts.

Hi Mike,

it appears I have the two earliest* Roberts currently known, so built by Charlie, not Chas, Roberts - so probably late 1960s: bit before my time but Roberts frames didn't change much until a few years after Chas took over in the late 1970s. Colours are mango and red.

The blue tyres suit your Cougar - I like, a lot. However my Bianchi is a modern - aluminium frame, carbon fork...it's the Liquigas team livery so the frame is polished with a clear coat (image is not my bike, but mine's the same but bigger).

Re:

I had a 2005 Via Nirone 7 in the 120th Anniversary colours. Mostly a metallic grey with black and only a hint of celeste.

Digital Blue tyres (as on my Cougar) and Celeste bar tape made it look much more like a Bianchi.

It now lives its life as a flat bar conversion, which, I have to say it does very, very well. My elderly stepfather still takes it for an occasional spin.

My 28 year old Campione d'Italia (in Celeste) has blue bar tape.

So, like I said, nowt wrong with a bit of blue on a Bianchi.

Re: Cougars in Captivity - right zoo this time

Made a start on mine today, only to find my front mech wont adjust due to a knackered screw and I've lost my power link from my chain. New parts will be ordered this week though, here's a couple of pics of my Cougar.
