Yes, nice. A dropbar setup would be original spec with a 912.
In general the 912 was Miyata's Koga GentsLuxe-S equivilent for the US market. With the European GL-S original spec was always DA, while the 912 also came available with slightly lesser parts, not necessarely being Shimano. A lot has to do with that Koga was importer for Shimano too in the early days.
The 912 (or GL-S) was the top of the line for the more comfort orientated racers. If you wanted purely performance aimed you opted for Team Miyata or Pro Miyata (FullPro and ProRacer for Koga)
