For Sale 1 lightly used Ultegra rear mech in VGC. I'm after £40 posted for it. (Based on postage with in the UK)

Jockey centres = 82mm

indexing wise, yes you can, but you need a 9 speed chain cos the jockey plates are too close together for one of those 6/7/8 sachs chain. It makes a continuous grating sound.

And a 9 speed chain will work fine on 8 speed shimano 600 chain wheels then?

The jockey wheels are 82mm centre to centre.

I was using it quite ok on an 8 speed Sram cassette with a Shimano IG70 chain so yeah it will work.

you may have more joy putting on the mtb section where long cage mechs are vital. Or on the ctc forum where tourists venture

Yeah I already have it in the MTB section, may try the ctc section though!
