This is the first of 5 bikes I am looking for a new home for (another Le Jeune, A didier louis cinelli lugged with a bendy seatpost took part in Le tour 79-82, a Rossin c1980 with split seat tube, and a Raleigh...)

First I'm a bit biased as I love Le Jeunes and this one is a little bit special. Condition wise - you can see for yourself in the photos it is in very good condition. It is all completely original and I know it is a cliche but I genuinely did get this out of a farmers barn in France near Rennes (along with the other Le Jeune which I will be advertising).

This was his racing bike (the other was his training bike). Unfortunately the owner passed away 3 years ago so I bought it off his son who was unable to give me any firm dates on when his father would have acquired it - only that he had thrown 3 wheel barrow loads of old bike parts out a year ago....

Based on parts and a little knowledge of Le Jeunes history and timeline I would hazard a guess this is probably made the year or the year after Lucien van impe won the 12th stage of Le Tour for the Le Jeune Team ( he won it 3 years later on a Gitane).

In terms of Specs:

Colombus Tubing (have never seen it on a Le Jeune Road bike before)
Campagnolo Front & Rear Drops
Pivo Stem & Bars
Brakes - Universal Super 68 Levers and callipers
Hubs - Normandy Luxe Competition
Cassette - Suntour Pro Compe
Rims - Mavic Super Competition Champion
Headset - Stronglight Super Competition
Mechs - Simplex Super LJ front and Rear
Crank set - Specialist TA Pro with drilled chain rings
Pedals - Lyotard 65 with Le Jeune Service straps and christophe toe clips
Seat Post - Zeus
Saddle - leather Ideale 90
Handlebar Tape - Original Japanese (forget the make....) from 1971

Price: Offers around £1k. (I have an offer of £800 in France)
Postage: £50 UK & Europe £120 North America £160 Australasia & Asia

I have lots more photos unfortunately this I reached my 8 allowed so drop me an email and I'll send you a link.

Any queries you can email me at or call 0033 468579075 or skype Baldedash (Thomas Baxter).

That is pretty much the way I feel about it - if I didn't have so many mouths to feed there is no way I would let this one leave. For me it is pretty much the epitome of all that was right about french lightweights in the early 70's. I have a mid 70's reynolds 531 framed Le jeune but in the standard red with chrome forks - which I thought was as good as it got until I saw this one and genuinely if I could afford to I would not have posted this ad....
