Sprint Wheels: Airlite, Campag, Dura-Ace, Miche, SR, Shimano

I have a few sets of sprint wheels for sale, both road & track.

All wheels are available for collection from London N1 or I can post at cost.


Airlite Continental Sprints built by Ken Bird - SOLD
Hole Count: 28/28 Axle Width: 100/120mm

Airlite fixed hubs with tied & soldered spokes to Super Champion 'Medaille D'Or' rims. Hand-built by Ken Bird they come with their original wheel covers. Kept in excellent condition, the only real blemish is on the rear hub where the chrome is starting to show it's age. These were owned by a time trial champion from the late 1970s and were almost certainly his race wheels.

SR/Weinmann Sprints c.1983 - PRICE DROP £45
Drillings 36/36 Axle Width: 100/126mm

Attractive Japanese hubs laced to a nice simple set of Weinmann sprint rims. The hubs are stamped 83 and the wheels are in very good condition. As with all used wheels, a re-grease wouldn't go a miss, but these wheels are good to go, they run true and have no play in the bearings. Includes 6 Speed freewheel.

NOS Miche Competition/Mavic GP4 Sprints - PRICE DROP £90
Hole Count: 36/36 Axle Width: 100/120mm

These wheels are unused but do show signs of storage wear. They've had a quick clean and with more cleaning they'll come up like new. The awesome Mavic GP4 rims have never seen any glue. Original skewers included.

Campagnolo Record / Mavic GP4 Sprints - SOLD without freewheel
Hole Count: 36/36 Axle Width: 100/126mm

These wheels were originally part of a Super Record groupset from 1978. They're in very good condition throughout and come complete with their original straight lever skewers an excellent drilled alloy 6 speed Everest freewheel for extra weight saving. The wheels run perfectly true and the bearings are great too.

Shimano 600 EX/Mavic Sprints - PRICE DROP £40
Hole Count: 36/36 Axle Width: 100/126mm

Excellent vintage set of sprints, Shimano 600EX hubs laced to classic Mavic red label rims. In good used condition, running true and with free bearings and no play.

Stunning and very rare wheelset, built by Dave Marsh at Universal Cycle Centre. Both the hubs and the rims are beautiful, and in amazing condition. These have only ever been used on the track and as such are in excellent condition. They come complete with the original Dura-Ace track nuts.

Surely with the screw on cassettes the alignment would be all wrong??

it would but you can respace the hub then redish the rim

Cheers, do you have any silver '70s - or at a push early '80s - Mavic clincher rims by any chance, I have some Campy hubs - will check spoke count to be sure but think they are 32/36h...

I'm afraid not, I don't have scales accurate enough to give you correct weights.
